Film Screening Sparks Conversation on Identity, Migration, and Belonging

Project Kesher Israel's Ramat Gan LGBTQ+ group hosted a screening of Lucky Break, an international documentary by filmmaker Oleg Yakovlev, followed by a thoughtful discussion with the director.

The film, which traces Yakovlev's journey after leaving Russia following the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, explores themes of home, identity, memory, and belonging that resonated deeply with many participants. The conversation became an opportunity for attendees to reflect on their own experiences of immigration, rebuilding their lives in Israel, and redefining what "home" means.

By engaging with these themes through film, participants found a meaningful way to process the challenges of migration from a place of reflection rather than hardship. The evening highlighted the power of storytelling to foster empathy, strengthen resilience, and build a deeper sense of belonging within the community.
