High Holiday Study Brings Together 250 Women from Across Israel

In preparation for the High Holidays, about 250 Project Kesher Israel women from 12 cities came together for a study session led by Rabbi Olya Weinstein. Rabbi Weinstein explored two Creation stories — one describing equality and partnership between women and men, and the other portraying woman as secondary. The discussion examined how these narratives have shaped perceptions of gender roles for thousands of years. She also taught from the Book of Jonah, traditionally read on Yom Kippur, guiding participants through conversations about freedom of choice, the possibility of change, and self-reflection.

Participants described the gathering as deeply engaging and inspiring. Following the study, local PKI coordinators met to connect, plan future activities, and share ideas for the new year.
